Brick workers at Brick-Hill, Bere Regis in about 1885

Situated adjacent to Doddings Farm near the place called Bedlam, this photograph shows equipment for the making of bricks and tiles and the four men employed at the works in the 19th Century. The youngsters are presumably relatives of the workers. The clay in that area was suitable for brick manufacture and the site had its own kiln and railway system for transporting materials at the site.
