Woodbury
Hill Fair had been held each September between about 1200 and 1951
when the last one was held. At its peak in the 17th, 18th and 19th
Centuries it was the largest Fair in the south of England, and was
popularly referred to as "Woodburytyde", for the five-day
event. In our 1920s photo, note the stalls in the foreground and the
swing-boats at right. On the left is an "Electric Cinema".
