There has been a Congregational Church presence in Bere Regis since 1662. Services were held in a licensed building in Blind Street, then in The Drax Hall which was used as a Chapel. Finally, on 9th February 1893, the building above in Butt Lane, was converted from a schoolroom into the new Congregational Chapel.

The Bere Heath Methodist Society was formed sometime between 1815 - 1829 and for its first few decades the meetings were held in a private residence. £121 was raised to build a Chapel which was subsequently opened on 24th October, 1850. It hosted its first ever marriage ceremony on 19th November 1966, after it had been licensed for weddings that year.
